Community
I have a need to share, to be part of something bigger.
It could be related to my profession, a group of like minded troublemakers or a movement for change. Whatever, I love to get involved and help organise.
I found my first community development model in 2014. Originally written by Meg Pickard, I edited the community development handbook and framework for GOV.UK.
These 2 pieces of guidance help develop communities of practice in government. Much of it can be applied to other communities, especically the 3 P's of people, programme and platforms.
The idea is to develop a self-sustaining community by combining:
a mix people from lurkers to leaders
a regular programme of activities
physical and digital platforms
